WS2818A Pixel Protocol
A single-wire, individually addressable RGB LED protocol with a built-in IC, supporting 8-bit color per channel and a redundant data line for enhanced reliability.
Overview
WS2818A operates at 5V and features break-point continuous transmission, so if one pixel fails, the rest keep working. It offers a 2000Hz PWM rate (suitable for filming up to 67fps), 24-bit color, and a SOP8 package for flexible LED integration. The protocol is ideal for installations needing robust operation but is limited to 5V and shorter cable runs compared to higher-voltage variants.
